STATE TREASURER CANDIDATE SENATOR LEE YANCEY CAMPAIGNS IN LAUREL
Republican Candidate for State Treasurer, Senator Lee Yancey, today campaigned with Ellisville native, State Senator Chris McDaniel, at the Jones County Republican Women monthly meeting in North Laurel.
Yancey told the crowd that his priority as Treasurer will be to keep our State tax dollars safe. “I have a proven conservative record of protecting your tax dollars,” said Yancey. “In a time of 10 percent unemployment, Mississippi cannot afford to keep swiping the state’s credit card with more debt. By cutting debt and spending, we can continue to avoid the catastrophes facing states like California and New York.”
Yancey joined with Senator Chris McDaniel as the key supporters of Mississippi’s successful anti-illegal immigration law which now serves as a model for other states. McDaniel, along with US Congressman Gregg Harper, Rev. Donald Wildmon of the American Family Association and the Mississippi Federation for Immigration Reform and Enforcement, have endorsed Yancey for State Treasurer.
Yancey represents parts of Rankin and Madison counties in the Senate. Yancey is an investment advisor representative with Woodridge Capital Portfolio Management. In 2006, Lee was selected by Pro-Life Mississippi as the recipient of their Pro-Lifer of the Year Award for his work with the Mississippi legislature.
Yancey and his wife, Courtney, have two teenage children. Courtney’s father, Julian Fagan grew up in Laurel. She is the granddaughter of J.W. Fagan, Jr. and the late Anita Boteler.
The Republican primary will take place on August 2nd. The general election will be held in November.
