The two chambers, for decades, have abided by “gentlemen’s agreement” that each would approve the other’s redistricting plan, but times and circumstances have changed dramatically.
Democrats nationwide have continued their agressive shift to embrace a radical, liberal agenda. Since the House remains firmly in the grip of its most liberal elements, it would not be wise for the Senate to simply rubber stamp what the House has recommended. Extensive review is needed.
Complicating matters, lawmakers are now under time pressure because the two plans must regrettably be submitted to the United States Justice Department for approval before they can be implemented.
I will keep you informed as the fight continues.
