State senator campaigning for commissioner
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) – A current state senator is campaigning for the state’s next Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce.
Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a cattle farmer, from Brookhaven says agriculture plays a vital role in the state’s economy and her passion is to see it grow. Hyde-Smith is currently the chairman of the senate’s agriculture committee, a position she’s held for eight years.
Hyde-Smith says with agriculture representing 25 percent of the state’s jobs, her top priority is job creation.
