Extra day of alcohol sales sought in Oxford
OXFORD — If he could, Ole Miss alum Bobby Walters would probably enjoy an alcoholic beverage with Sunday brunch or lunch when he is in town for football games or to visit friends.
“If I can have a beer with my meal any other day of the week, it shouldn’t be a big deal,” he said.
Walters could soon have that chance, if Oxford business owners and others get their way.
As with several cities across the state, Oxford – home to the University of Mississippi – is mulling the expansion of alcohol sales to include Sundays.
Some towns already have added or expanded alcohol sales in recent months, including Water Valley, New Albany and Tupelo.
