Gulf Live – Gene Taylor hopes to debate Steven Palazzo
U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Bay St. Louis, said he hopes to debate state Rep. Steven Palazzo at WLOX-TV studios in Gulfport sometime in the next several months.
Palazzo, a conservative Republican, is challenging Taylor to represent Mississippi’s 4th Congressional District, which consists of 15 counties in southeast Mississippi.
Taylor said a televised debate on the local TV station is a tradition dating back to 1988, when Republican Larkin Smith made the offer to him “when I was the underdog.”
“It’s what I’ve traditionally done in serious races, the ones that are more serious than others,” Taylor said.
