Moak downplays speculation over Speaker chances
Mississippi political circles are popping with rumors a local legislator has his sights set on becoming the next Speaker of the House, but District 53 Rep. Bobby Moak brushed all the talk aside when questioned about the possibility.
“I hear all of that, but it’s political speculation,” he said. “That kind of talk floats around this Capitol on a daily basis. That’s politics.”
According to a campaign finance report filed with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office, Moak’s three campaign funds – Believe PAC, Bobby PAC and Bobby Moak Campaign – contain a combined total of almost $214,000.
Moak said the funds are for his own re-election campaign in the House, and for other lawmakers he supports.
Moak said he is also uninterested in running for any statewide offices in 2011.
