James Carville and Mary Matalin speak at MSU

Power-couple James Carville and Mary Matalin praised Mississippi State University students and urged them to bring their enthusiasm and intellect to the political process.

“You’re going to do great things for this state and this country,” Louisiana native Carville told the crowd Tuesday night in Bettersworth Auditorium.

He and his wife, Matalin, were among notable speakers on campus for a multi-day Leadership Summit.

Carville, a Democrat, and Matalin, a Republican, often get asked how they get along as a couple with such divergent political views.

“We just don’t do it,” Matalin said about personal political conversations. “It’s just too annoying.”
