Supreme Court gets wind vs. water case

Oral arguments are set for 1:30 p.m. June 9 in Corban v. USAA Insurance, the first Katrina wind vs. water insurance dispute to be heard by the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Attorneys for the Corbans of Long Beach and USAA have 40 minutes each to argue their cases. The court has agreed to allow Attorney General Jim Hood and Nationwide Insurance to offer arguments of 15 minutes each as interested parties. Hood, who has defended policyholders in insurance litigation, and Nationwide must stick to the issues on appeal, the court’s order said.
