JPD interim chief makes staff changes
After being tapped last week to lead the Jacksons Police Department, interim Chief Tyrone Lewis said he would keep many of former chief Malcolm McMillin’s policies and programs in place.
Lewis echoed that pledge again this morning during his brief appearance at the weekly command staff meeting.
However, Lewis has made two changes to the department’s staff. He promoted Police Training Academy supervisor Tony Davis from sergeant to commander. Davis, who was Lewis’ right-hand man at the academy while Lewis was deputy chief, will be in charge of recruiting, continue to oversee day-to-day operations and report directly to Lewis.
