So far, Mississippi officials are speaking out in support of the appointment of Commissioner Cindy Hyde-Smith to the United States Senate.

U.S. Congressman Gregg Harper (MS-03), Chairman of the Committee on House Administration and the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, released the following statement following Governor Phil Bryant’s announcement of his intent to appoint Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Cindy Hyde-Smith, upon Senator Thad Cochran’s retirement:
