Today in Brookhaven Gov. Phil Bryant officially announced that Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, Cindy Hyde-Smith would replace retiring Sen. Thad Cochran in D.C.
This is a historic event for Mississippi as Hyde-Smith will be the first woman in the to represent Mississippi in Washington.
