U.S. Rep. Travis Childers of Booneville and U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker of Tupelo are pushing ideas aimed at solving America’s energy problems.
Monday, Childers announced a six-point plan to deal with rising fuel prices, short- and long-term.
“Right now, working people need immediate relief from increasing gas prices and a long-term energy strategy to get this country back on track,” said Childers, a Democrat.
Wicker, a Republican, on Monday urged Congress to move quickly to support President Bush’s move to lift an executive ban on deep-sea energy exploration.
“The congressional moratorium on deep-sea energy exploration remains the only thing standing in the way of American consumers and more domestic energy production,” Wicker noted.
