We’re certain that Gov. Haley Barbour has a strategy for the special session he called for Wednesday, but darn if we know what it is.
When the Legislature ended its regular session in mid-April, two major issues were left unresolved – the Medicaid budget and renewing the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
When Barbour issued his call for the special session late Friday afternoon, the MDES issue was on the agenda, but Medicaid wasn’t.
Also included in the call is work on a copper theft bill that Barbour vetoed on Monday, adjusting the current law that allows the construction of toll roads and prohibiting casino expansion beyond counties that already allow legalized gambling.
