Private contractors will be in Jackson neighborhoods today hauling off mounds of debris left from tornadoes that struck the city on April 4.
The Jackson City Council on Thursday approved contracts with locally owned companies Garrett Enterprises Inc. and IMS Engineers P.A.
“We’ll head out in full blast,” said Socrates Garrett of Garrett Enterprises, the firm hired to take the lead on debris removal.
Garrett had the lowest bid of three local firms. Debris will be removed for $15 per cubic yard, not to exceed $3 million.
