Rep. Thompson launches e-newsletter to aid small businesses
His office has recently distributed the third issue of his newsletter, Business Opportunities at DHS, which lists upcoming DHS solicitations, provides links to helpful government Web sites, cites upcoming meetings and conferences, and discusses top R&D and procurement priorities of DHS, which his congressional committee oversees.
“I began this newsletter to alleviate the gap that exists between the need for information about opportunities available at the Department and the ability to locate and disseminate that information in a timely and user-friendly manner,” the congressman wrote in the second issue.
Thompson spoke about the need to connect small business people who have good ideas for homeland security products (but insufficient cash to develop the ideas) with larger security companies that have enough capital to fund such development efforts.
