SALTER – Dems, GOP should find Medicaid consensus

Dems, GOP should find Medicaid consensus

A more reasonable compromise would be a hospital tax and a cigarette tax hike up to 50 cents per pack. Without a dedicated revenue stream, Medicaid will continue to be a funding nightmare.

A Medicaid compromise on the hospital tax and a reasonable cigarette tax increases between the House and Senate with Barbour’s cooperation would seem pragmatic solution.

Without it, we’re headed back to the usual political drama of scaring elderly ladies and kids about losing their health coverage and that’s getting to be a tired act.
