On witness stand, AG Hood defends criminal, civil cases against State Farm
Hood repeatedly referred questions to a subordinate who has overseen the grand jury investigation of State Farm. Hood said he wasn’t present for the grand jury testimony and relied on his prosecutors.
“What was your role?” Robie asked Hood.
Hood replied: “I don’t direct, point and micromanage my prosecutors. I trust what they do.”
Before Hood testified on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge David Bramlette said he needs more time to weigh complex legal issues in the case. In the meantime, Bramlette said a court order barring Hood from conducting a criminal probe of State Farm Fire will remain in effect for up to a month.
