Wicker moves up; who moves in?

Among those who already have said they’ll enter the race are state Rep. Steve Holland, a Democrat, and Southaven Mayor Greg Davis and former Tupelo Mayor Glenn McCullough, both Republicans.

Speculation also continues about who will run against Wicker in a special election for the Senate post on Nov. 4, if indeed that’s when the special election will be held. A dispute between Gov. Haley Barbour and state Attorney General Jim Hood over the election’s timing is ongoing. Hood maintains state law dictates the election should be held within 90 days after the interim appointment is announced, which would put voters at the polls in March.
