Jackson Mayor Frank Melton on Thursday vetoed the City Council’s six-month moratorium on demolishing properties in the Farish Street Historic District.

“It’s a hollow veto,” said City Council President Leslie Burl McLemore. “(Melton) has enough houses on his (demolition) list to keep the people busy for a year.”
