The preliminaries are over and the field is set for what is expected to be a titanic struggle this fall for control of the Mississippi Legislature.
With the completion of the party primaries last week, both Republicans and Democrats claim they have a field of candidates capable of leading their parties to legislative gains in the Nov. 6 general election.
The 122-member House now has 75 Democrats, and even Herring admits it would be unrealistic to believe the Republicans could gain control of that chamber in November’s elections.
