Limited by the evidence they could introduce and put in a position of defending a house raided for drugs, prosecutors in the trial of Frank Melton couldn’t win their case against the mayor.
Most damaging to the state’s case against the mayor was the prosecution’s inability to prevent a tidal wave of testimony, exhibits and ad hoc comments that colored the ramshackle building as a den of illegal drug use and sales worthy of demolition.
