- Voters will decide who will fill House District 77 and House District 70 seats in the Mississippi House after the deaths of State Representatives Price Wallace and Bo Brown this summer.
In June, Governor Tate Reeves (R) set two special elections for the Mississippi House of Representatives to fill the remainder of the terms left by the deaths of state representatives.
The special elections will fill House seats formerly held by the late State Rep. Price Wallace (R) and the late State Rep. William “Bo” Brown (D), both of whom died in less than a week from each other.
Qualifying for the non-partisan special elections ended on Thursday.
According to the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office, four candidates qualified to fill Wallace’s term in House District 77 (Rankin and Simpson counties) while three candidates qualified to succeed Brown in House District 70 (Hinds County).
The four candidates listed for HD 77 are:
- Christopher Dunn
- Dianne Gaddis
- Melissa Sullivan
- Craig Williams
In HD 70, the three candidates running are:
- Imelda Brown
- Marcus Cheatham
- James Lott III
The special elections for both House seats will be held on November 3, the same day as the state’s General Election. The winners will complete the four-term of Wallace and Brown which ends in January 2028.
