PSC Commissioner Sam Britton (left) and Rep. Michael Watson (right) are vying for Secretary of State
Senator Michael Watson sent the attached letter to Commissioner Sam Britton, challenging Britton to join him for a debate in each of Mississippi’s four Congressional districts.
“Voters should be able to hear directly from those who are looking to represent them,” Watson said. “In addition, I believe there is enormous value in enabling voters to compare qualifications and positions through direct, in-person debates. For that reason, I am making myself available for a debate in each of Mississippi’s four congressional districts.”
Michael Watson was the only candidate for Secretary of State to attend last Friday’s debate hosted by the Mississippi Federation of College Republicans and the Lincoln County Republican Women. He was given the opportunity to speak about his plans for the office, including improving election security and helping small businesses by trimming unnecessary regulations.
Watson currently serves as State Senator for District 51 in Jackson County. He and his wife Lauren live in Hurley with their three daughters, Gracie Pierce, Annie and Cora Elizabeth.
