Buc-ee’s to break ground on first Mississippi location
Buc-ee’s will break ground on its new travel center in Harrison County, Mississippi, on September 13th – the first in Mississippi.
Located at I-10 and Menge Avenue, Buc-ee’s Harrison County will occupy 74,000 square feet and offer 120 fueling positions and 24 EV charging stations. Buc-ee’s favorites including Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries will all be available.
The company says visitors will find thousands of snack, meal and drink options, as well as the same award-winning restrooms, cheap gas, quality products and excellent service that have won the hearts, trust and business of millions in the South for over 40 years.
Founded in Texas in 1982, Buc-ee’s operates 46 stores across Texas and the South. Since beginning its multi-state expansion in 2019, Buc-ee’s has opened travel centers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Now, Buc-ee’s is headed West with store groundbreakings in Colorado and Missouri.
Bollinger moves New Orleans operations to Pascagoula
Bollinger Shipyard’s New Orleans shipyard operations known as Algiers Point recently announced that it was closing its Louisiana location and moving its operations to Pascagoula on the Mississippi Coast.
The Pascagoula facility has deepwater access to the Gulf as well as corporate office space, engineering, fabrication, warehousing, and a foreign trade zone.
Jobs at the New Orleans shipyard will be relocated to the company’s other 13 facilities.
Last year, Bollinger acquired VT Halter Marine which expanded its operations and production outlook. The Pascagoula yard constructs Coast Guard and Navy vessels. The company also acquired a large repair yard.
Old Margaritaville Casino sold in Biloxi
The old Margaritaville Casino site which has been vacate in Biloxi for eight years has been sold to MIC. The company is owned by Harry Mohney and has locations in Michigan and Las Vegas.
According to a report from WLOX, the company will develop 11 different venues to include “bars, restaurants, live music, activities like axe throwing, and outdoor rentals like jet skis.”
The company told WLOX that a casino will not be part of the new development.
Ole Miss to Host 2nd Annual Family Business Symposium
Early bird registration is open for The University of Mississippi’s 2nd annual It’s All Relative Family Business Symposium September 14-15 at the Sheraton Flowood Refuge Hotel & Conference Center.
Hosted by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), this open forum is designed for business leaders, family business owners and employees to express concerns for longevity in their family-owned businesses.
As a part of the Legacy Leadership program, the CIE Family Business Symposium welcomes family businesses from an array of industries. These businesses come together to discuss concerns and solutions to the business challenges they face and hear from knowledgeable business leaders on how to continue growing their businesses for generations to come.
