YP – Trump Administration Sending 890,000 State-of-the Art BinaxNOW Tests to Mississippi
As part of the Trump Administration’s comprehensive national effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and to assist the nation’s Governors in doing so, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is sending 890,000 state-of-the-art Abbott BinaxNOW COVID-19 point of care antigen tests to the State of Mississippi. The rapid point of care tests, which can diagnose coronavirus infection in as little as fifteen minutes, will be distributed at the discretion of Governor Tate Reeves to support testing K-12 students, teachers, nursing home patients and staff, higher education, critical infrastructure, first responders, and other priorities as he deems fit.
The Trump Administration has shipped over 200,000 COVID-19 rapid tests directly to congregate care settings such as Mississippi nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the state. As of October 26 over 398,000 BinaxNOW tests have been shipped to Mississippi.

YP – What to expect when you head to the ballot box November 3rd
The 2020 General Election in Mississippi will be held in November 3. The polls will be open from 7 a.m until 7 p.m. on that Tuesday. Absentee voting has been underway, but for those planning to vote in-person there have been a few changes.
Voting in-person will be slightly different this year due to the health concerns of COVID-19. According to Secretary of State Michael Watson, the greatest impact these changes have had, has been on absentee voting.

As of Sunday, October 25, 2020, the Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) reported a total of 169,087 absentee ballots requested, 165,846 absentee ballots sent, and 142,591 absentee ballots received in the state of Mississippi for the 2020 General Election.
As a reminder, the requested total reflects the number of Mississippi voters who have requested an absentee ballot through their local Circuit Clerk’s Office. The sent total reflects the number of absentee ballots sent to voters from Circuit Clerk Offices. The received total reflects the number of completed absentee ballots returned to Circuit Clerk Offices.

Governor Tate Reeves posted on social media Monday night in support of Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Josiah Coleman’s re-election bid.
Coleman is running for the District 3, Position 3 seat against Judge Percy Lynchard…
…While judicial elections are non-partisan, partisan officials and political parties routinely openly back candidates. The Mississippi Republican Party has stated their support for Coleman. Lynchard made Congressman Bennie Thompson’s “sample ballot,” giving the Democrat’s blessing and unspoken endorsement in the race.

YP – DSCC, Mike Espy launch another attack ad on Hyde-Smith on healthcare
Sunday, Espy for Senate released “Hurting Mississippi,” a new television advertisement with Mississippians explaining how Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is hurting the state by working against Mississippi time and time again — and not being truthful about that record.
As Mississippians testify in the advertisement, Sen. Hyde-Smith has a record of hurting the state. Sen. Hyde-Smith voted 21 times against Mississippi, including voting against the Great American Outdoors Act signed by President Trump, to undermine protections for pre-existing conditions, and to cut billions from the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Even worse, Sen. Hyde-Smith has tried to mislead Mississippians about that record.

Zeta enters the Gulf – MS Gulf Coast under a Hurricane Warning
Zeta reached hurricane strength on Monday before across the Yucatan Peninsula and entering the Gulf of Mexico. It is now back to a Tropical Storm with maximum sustained winds of 70mph. However, it is projected to increase strength back to a hurricane over the next two days, with landfall likely along the Louisiana coast and crossing into Mississippi. A Hurricane Warning is in effect from Morgan City, Louisiana to the Mississippi/Alabama border.
WJTV – Hinds County Election Commissioners file suit against Board of Supervisors
The Hinds County Election Commission filed a lawsuit against the Hinds County Board of Supervisors on Monday.
According to court documents, the suit was filed to determine that the $1.5 million grant with the Center for Tech and Civic Life is a binding contract.
Last week, the Hinds County Board of Supervisors decided the county will not receive a grant. The grant was supposed to be used for items like PPE, disposable pens and social distancing measures at the polls.
