Governor Reeves says statewide mask mandate will expire, but extends some measures to prevent spread of COVID-19
“Today, I signed a new executive order which extends some of our measures to prevent rampant COVID-19 transmission. We have to make sure that we do not go back to the dangerous times of serious hospital capacity issues. The statewide mask mandate is expiring,” said Governor Tate Reeves…
…Under the new executive order, some social distancing restrictions have been eased as our new COVD-19 case numbers continue to improve. A few of the relaxed restrictions include increasing attendance at outdoor K-12 extracurricular events such as football games to 50% of seating capacity, limiting group gatherings when you are unable to social distance to no more than 20 indoors and 100 outdoors, and requiring masks for schools and close contact businesses like salons and barbershops. The order is in effect until Wednesday, November 11 at 5:00 PM.

Sen. Chris McDaniel shared his opinion on Facebook Wednesday morning, simply stating, “Well, the debate was awful.”
The debate, which was the first of three, received widespread criticism with even moderator Chris Wallace, who also received blowback for his performance, calling it “a terrible missed opportunity.”
But while McDaniel was critical of the debate, he did add that “one candidate is backed by people who want to preserve and strengthen the American experiment; the other is supported by those who desire to radically erase and transform it.”

YP – Hyde-Smith votes for Stopgap Funding Bill extending programs important to Mississippi
U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, today voted for a stopgap appropriations measure to fund federal operations through Dec. 11, while also extending programs important to Mississippi’s economy and wellbeing.
The Senate gave final approval (84-10) to a “continuing resolution,” a measure required to maintain federal programs past the Oct. 1 start of Fiscal Year 2021. HR.8337 includes provisions fought for by Hyde-Smith, including funding to replenish the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) for farm assistance and other payments and extending Families First Coronavirus Response Act waiver extensions for the National School Lunch Program.

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after voting to advance legislation to fund the federal government through December 11, 2020:
“In recent months, it has become clear that the gaps between the House and the Senate on our nation’s financial priorities are too large to overcome before the end of the fiscal year. Though I am glad that today’s vote averts the possibility of a government shutdown this week, a continuing resolution is no substitute for a full appropriations package.
