Nominations for the 4th Annual Mississippi Top 50 Awards Now Open

By: Frank Corder - August 7, 2020

Mississippi is graced with tremendous talent in government, the political sphere, business, media and culture. The Mississippi Top 50 Awards were created to recognize those that help move the conversation in Mississippi forward, either by virtue of their position or their talents.

Those honored are judged to be the most influential leaders in the state at this time. It is a bipartisan group that comes from the ranks of local, state and federal elected and appointed officials; political leaders; government affairs professionals; public policy advocates; economic development professionals; business leaders; media professionals and other leaders across Mississippi.

The title sponsors for this year’s event are Atmos Energy, Capitol Resources, Farm Bureau, The Payne Group, and Tower Loan.

Nominations for the 4th Annual Mississippi Top 50 opened August 5, 2020 and run through September 4, 2020.

The categories for consideration are:

• Elected/Appointed Government Officials

• Lobbying/Government Relations

• Business, Culture and Media

Honorees are nominated through an open process online. You can nominate a deserving Mississippian here. Prior winners are eligible for nomination, and people can nominate themselves for consideration. There is no cost to nominate, be nominated or to receive an award. However, one must be nominated to be considered.

Nominees will be notified of their nomination, and honorees will be notified of their selection in mid-September 2020.

Additionally, two Mississippians are recognized annually for the Mississippi Top 50 “Hall of Fame.” These are leaders who have made lasting contributions to the political, business and public policy landscape. Former “Hall of Fame” honorees include Senator Thad Cochran, Governor William Winter, Governor Phil Bryant, Speaker Pro Tempore Robert Clark, Governor Haley Barbour, and State Representative Steve Holland.

The Mississippi Top 50 awards ceremony is scheduled for October 6, 2020. Due to COVID-19, the ceremony remains in flux and could be in a virtual format. An announcement closer to that date will be forthcoming.

Now is the time to consider who are the most influential people in Mississippi.  Nominate those deserving individuals today!
