RGA highlights Governor Tate Reeves’ “Restart Mississippi” task force

By: Frank Corder - April 17, 2020

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves is mobilizing the private sector in the Magnolia State to formulate a plan to revive the state’s economy as businesses and families recover from the COVID-19 crisis. Through the Governor’s Commission for Economic Recovery, Governor Reeves launched the Restart Mississippi task force consisting of business leaders charged with developing recommendations to reopen the economy, and minimize negative impacts of the pandemic, and facilitate long-term economic revitalization.

“We need Mississippians helping Mississippians. I have asked a trusted group of our state’s top business minds to do just that,” said Governor Reeves.

Governor Reeves tapped Joe Sanderson of Sanderson Farms, a longtime business community leader, to chair the task force. Sanderson is joined by an executive team composed of business leaders representing various regions and industries in Mississippi.

“Under the ‘Restart Mississippi’ umbrella, they are going to develop a series of recommendations and goals for our new economy. They will study the impact of COVID-19 on our workforce and small businesses. And they will help us recover—day by day,” continued Governor Reeves.

As in states all across the country, Mississippi’s small businesses have been hit hard by COVID-19 and unemployment claims have increased dramatically. Republican governors like Governor Reeves are engaging the “best and brightest minds” from the private sector to find all-inclusive solutions that will restart and revitalize their economies for months, years, and generations to come.
