McRae Extends Art Contest Deadline, Welcomes Online Submissions

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 17, 2020

Treasurer David McRae

Treasurer David McRae today announced all PreK-12 students have an additional month to participate in the College Savings Mississippi Art Contest. Submissions are due on April 30. Additionally, the office will now accept submissions via email at collegesavings@treasury.ms.gov.

“Thousands of Mississippi students will be home from school this month,” said McRae. “Art projects can help keep their minds active during this time, and that’s not all. Your child’s masterpiece could be worth $529. So, forget hanging it on the fridge. Submit your student’s next pencil sketch, crayon drawing, or watercolor painting and earn a scholarship today.”

Students in grades PreK-12 are eligible. Winners will receive a scholarship worth up to $529 in the form of a Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) account. The deadline for submission is April 30, 2020.

While submissions continue to be accepted by mail, parents are invited to submit their student’s artwork online. To do so, simply photograph the painting, sketch, collage, etc., and email the image and registration form to collegesavings@treasury.ms.gov. The artwork must answer the question: What do you want to do when you grow up?
