Last minute “Hail Mary” robocall by Barack Obama for Jim Hood
Monday evening, robocalls with the voice of former President Barack Obama began circulating in Mississippi. The calls encourage Mississippians to vote for Jim Hood on Tuesday, November 5 in the General Election for Governor.
The calls used the disclaimer of paid for by Friends of Jim Hood and have been reportedly circulating statewide. Similar calls were made in Louisiana for Gov John Bel Edwards three weeks ago.
WLOX – Vice President Mike Pence speaks at campaign rally for Tate Reeves
Vice President Mike Pence was on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Monday lending his name and voice in support of Tate Reeves. Pence hosted a campaign rally in Biloxi for the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
The two-hour event featured speakers like Governor Phil Bryant, Representative Steven Palazzo, Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith and Roger Wicker, as well as Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Tate Reeves, who introduced the vice president to the crowd.
“Mississippi has an opportunity before the polls close on November 5th,” Pence told the crowd. “If you want to keep Mississippi’s economy going strong, vote for Tate Reeves for Governor. If you want to stop sanctuary cities and protect our southern border and defend the second amendment of the constitution, vote for Tate Reeves for Governor. If you want to defend the unborn and stand for the right to life, vote for Tate Reeves for Governor. ”

WTOK – Over 58,000 absentee ballots requested for general election
As of 8 a.m. Monday, the number of absentee ballots requested for Mississippi’s general election was 58,070, with 51,318 already having been received back to circuit clerk offices in the state.
More than 1.9 million Mississippians are registered to vote in the upcoming election. Census data estimates the State’s eligible voting age population to be about 2.2 million.
WLOX – Dixie Newman leads in District 50 Senate race going into special election
Going into the re-vote for the District 50 Senate seat race between Scott Delano and Dixie Newman, Newman leads with 126 votes.
The re-vote was only ordered for five of the 16 precincts. So, the results from the 11 other precincts will remain the same and are as followed:
- Newman 2,287
- Delano 2,161
Voters in the five precincts will cast two ballots Tuesday:
- Saucier
- New Hope
- Howard Creek
- Margaret Sherry
- Biloxi #11 at the Donal Snyder Center
