Late Wednesday afternoon, President Donald Trump endorsed Tate Reeves for Governor via Twitter.
Mississippi, there is a VERY important election for Governor on November 5th. I need you to Get Out and Vote for our Great Republican nominee, @TateReeves. Tate is strong on Crime, tough on Illegal Immigration, and will protect your Second Amendment….

Reeves is facing Democrat Attorney General Jim Hood in the fight to be Mississippi’s next Governor.
Trump took the opportunity to take a swipe at Hood for being anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton. Hood was a pledged delegate to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 campaign. Trump won Mississippi in 2016 with 57.1% of the vote compared to 40% for Hillary Clinton.
….He loves our Military and supports our Vets! Democrat Jim Hood will never give us his vote, is anti-Trump and pro-Crooked Hillary. Get Out and Vote for Tate Reeves on November 5th. He has my Complete & Total Endorsement!

Reeves responded via tweet thanking Trump.
Thank you Mr. President! The Democrats are out-of-control and Jim Hood is completely with them. We have to stand together for the future of our great state. https://t.co/polcenbH1J

The President has weighed in on Mississippi elections in the past, campaigning for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in 2018. He originally made his endorsement of her on Twitter
The President appeared on her behalf in Southaven Mississippi in October 2018, telling Mississippians to “get out and vote Republican.” Hyde-Smith was sworn in after an appointment from Governor Bryant following the retirement of Senator Thad Cochran. She then ran against former U.S. Congressman Mike Espy in the general election for the seat by 8 points.
