NEWSMS – Democratic candidate in governor’s race calls for debate
Hinds County District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith is calling on his opponents in the Democratic primary race to meet for a debate ahead of the August 6th primary election.
Two of the three Republican primary candidates debated at Mississippi State in early April, and Smith says that voters need to hear from the Democratic candidates as well.
“I think this election and the issues confronting Mississippi voters demand a similar exchange among Democratic candidates,” Smith said. “I would like to see the other eight candidates on the Democratic gubernatorial ballot share a debate stage. A location in Jackson, MS would make a lot of sense, but I am willing to debate Attorney General Jim Hood and the other candidates anytime, anywhere.”
Hood says Mississippi in midst of infrastructure crisis
We are in the midst of a crisis when it comes to our crumbling infrastructure. 500 bridges remain closed, while the state has identified nearly 7,400 bridges that need repairs. What does it mean when 500 bridges are closed in our state? (1/3) #msgov #mselex pic.twitter.com/Aih3WgHxgL

Senators Wicker, Hyde-Smith vote to crack down on robocalls
I urge the House to take up and vote for the #TRACEDAct and then send it to the President’s desk so we can stop the scourge of robocalls. https://t.co/o5uSDmmwsC

Today I voted in support of a bill to stop robocall scammers. This sets the stage for federal officials to recommend new tactics and fines to stop these unwanted callers, whose main focus is to scam and cheat people. https://t.co/H5rRr2Kfrl pic.twitter.com/j0grZvLITq

Congressman Palazzo: Democrats promoting infanticide
50 times House Republicans have asked Democrats to vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
50 times Democrats have chosen to deny medical care for innocent babies that survive horrifying abortions. By refusing to even vote, Democrats are promoting infanticide.
