U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today announced a $360,540 grant to Aaron E. Henry Community Health Services Center, Inc. in Clarksdale to support better access to health care services.
The U.S. Department of Transportation approved the funding through the Access and Mobility Partnership Grants Program, which is administered by the Federal Transit Administration.
“Senior citizens and individuals with disabilities often need help getting to medical appointments, and this grant will help the Aaron E. Henry center ensure transportation services are available to its clients in the Clarksdale area,” Hyde-Smith said.
The discretionary grant is intended to improve coordination between the community health center and local officials to provide better transportation services to seniors, the disabled, and low-income individuals. It would also be used to implement technology such as mobility-on-demand shared transportation services and smart phone apps for booking services.
