Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board appoints Executive Director

The Mississippi Charter School Authorizer Board (MCSAB) appointed Dr. Lisa Karmacharya as Executive Director.

Prior to her current post, Karmacharya served as Executive Director of the Mississippi Association of School Administrators. She has over 25 years of experience in education and has served in many roles including Superintendent, Federal Programs Director, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Principal, Assistant Principal, and Special Education Teacher.

“I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders and embracing both challenges and opportunities to ensure that our public charter schools are providing all children with the high-quality education they so deserve,” said Karmacharya.

Dr. Karmacharya will begin leading the organization on February 18, 2019.

The mission of MCSAB is to authorize and oversee high-quality charter schools designed to expand opportunities for underserved students.
