It’s not the first time the Mississippi Legislature has seen a this bill. Authored by Senator Jolly, SB 2004 would allow for Mississippi to observe Daylight Saving Time all year, as the standard for the state.
The legislation is dependent upon the United States Congress amending 15 USC Section 260 (a), which would allow states to decide to observe the measure all year long.
SECTION 1. If the United States Congress amends 15 USC Section 260(a), to authorize states to observe daylight saving time year-round, it is the intent of the Legislature that daylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the entire State of Mississippi and all of its political subdivisions.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
