Tuesday, just hours before lawmakers gaveled in for the 2019 Legislative Session, Representative Robert Foster signed qualifying papers for the Governor’s run. He was joined by his wife and children, as he also announced an 82 county farm tour as part of the campaign.
“We are very excited about this next year ahead of us and for all of the people in Mississippi,” said Foster. “We have a lot of potential in our state.”
Foster said his platform focuses on improved healthcare, education reform, and expanding internet access to rural communities. When asked if he would support potential legislation during this Session for broadband access in rural areas he said he is in support of that policy.
“We have got to allow people to access high speed internet everywhere in our state, not just in the cities. It’s the electricity of the 21st Century,” said Foster.
Foster has served in the House of Representatives for three years, starting on his fourth this year. So far, he is one of two Republicans that have entered the race, the other is Lt. Governor Tate Reeves.
