VIDEO: Press receive time with campaigns following debate

By: Sarah Ulmer - November 21, 2018

Following the Tuesday night debate, representatives from each campaign spoke with members of the press on issues that were discussed during the debate.  Mike Espy spoke directly with reporters.  However, Senator Roger Wicker spoke on behalf of Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.

Mike Espy once again fielded questions on the allegations brought against him in the 90’s during the Clinton administration. He has stated most recently that the allegations were unfair to him, however in a 1994 statement he apologized for not handing his personal affairs better. Here’s his response to why he changed his tune.

Senator Roger Wicker appeared from behind the curtain shortly after Espy had left. He spoke on behalf of Senator Hyde-Smith who he said was on her way home to Brookhaven to fill her husband in on the debate as he wasn’t able to watch it.

Senator Wicker took some hard questions on behalf of the Junior Senator when media asked him if he thought her “public hanging” comments were appropriate, or if he understood why some people were so outraged by them. He was also hit with questions as to why Hyde-Smith wouldn’t speak to the media and if “He and governor Bryant were running her campaign, or if she was.”
