President Trump’s endorsement rally for Cindy Hyde-Smith to be rescheduled due to pending Hurricane Florence

By: Courtney Ingle - September 10, 2018

Local media is reporting that President Donald Trump, who was originally scheduled for his endorsement rally for Cindy Hyde-Smith in Jackson this Friday, has been forced to reschedule the trip to Jackson due to the pending landfall of Hurricane Florence.

The storm is currently projected to landfall late Thursday on the mid-Atlantic coast.

It is anticipated that the rally will be rescheduled to sometime between now and Election Day.

Senator Hyde-Smith’s campaign released a statement regarding the cancellation:

“Cindy is honored to have President Trump’s endorsement and support in this year’s election. However, as our neighbors on the East Coast prepare for Hurricane Florence’s landfall, we agree with the decision to cancel this Friday’s rally.

“Mississippi residents understand what it’s like to prepare for, endure and recover from a major hurricane. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people in the path of the storm.”

More details will be provided as they become available.
