Athletes for Espy: Senatorial candidate releases campaign video

By: Courtney Ingle - August 29, 2018

U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Espy has released a campaign video featuring some local athletes calling for support for him in November.

Espy released the video via Facebook and claimed it was less of a campaign and more of a “lifestyle movement” to encourage healthier choices for Mississippians. He added that he would apply the “toned, fit, and speedy theme for a more efficient government if elected to the Senate.

The video features Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles and former MSU bulldog, and other local Mississippi athletes that have had success at the college and pro levels.

“…we hope to inspire Mississippians of all ages to get off the couch and to ditch the junk food. As best as I could, I was proud to work out with these athletes and I thank them for their endorsement and their personal coaching,” Espy posted.

Espy faces U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith and state Senator Chris McDaniel and coast resident Tobey Bartee for former Senator Thad Cochran’s seat in November.
