Industry Leading Crop Protection Company Nufarm Locates in Greenville, Miss., Creating 68 Jobs

Crop protection company Nufarm is locating manufacturing operations in Greenville, Miss., a $20 million investment which will create 68 jobs.

“As a leader in agriculture, Mississippi is proud to welcome Nufarm as the state’s newest business partner. From Greenville, Nufarm will employ the Mississippi Delta’s skilled workforce to manufacture its crop protection products and ensure their timely delivery to Nufarm’s customers throughout the Southeast,” Gov. Phil Bryant said.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, Nufarm is one of the world’s leading crop protection and specialist seeds companies. Nufarm’s products help farmers protect their crops against damage caused by weeds, pests and disease. The company will be located in the former Matcor building, which it purchased from the city of Greenville.

“We appreciate the partnership created between Nufarm, the city of Greenville and the state of Mississippi, and we look forward to becoming a member of the Greenville community,” said Tom Lyons, vice president of supply chain and operations for Nufarm. “Nufarm Greenville will be a perfect complement to our other outstanding facilities, delivering safe, high-quality product for the North American market.”

The Mississippi Development Authority and the Washington County Economic Alliance are providing assistance for the construction of a rail line.

“Nufarm is an international leader in agriculture, manufacturing quality products enabling farmers to produce higher quality crops,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “MDA, with the city of Greenville and the Washington County Economic Alliance, is proud to assist Nufarm as it locates in our state creating dozens of new career opportunities for Mississippians in the Delta.”

Greenville is Nufarm’s first location in Mississippi. The company expects to be fully staffed by 2022.
