Y’all Politics has released the partial results of a poll that reveals who is the favored Congressional candidate for voters and President Donald Trump’s approval ratings in each of Mississippi’s four congressional districts going into the November elections.
The full results of the statewide poll will be released Thursday and will feature the results of polling from both US Senate races.
Y’all Politics commissioned the poll from Triumph Campaigns. This is on the heels of similar surveys commissioned by Y’all Politics over the past year.
First District
In the First Congressional District, voters chose incumbent Congressman Trent Kelly (R) by fifty-seven percent (57%) for re-election compared to challenger Randy “Mack” Wadkins (D), who received twenty-eight (28%) percent of the vote. Nearly fifteen percent of First Congressional District voters were undecided.
President Donald Trump received over fifty-five percent approval rating among the voters polled in the district. Just over thirty-two percent expressed disapproval for the president and roughly twelve percent were undecided.
Second District
In the second district, voters chose incumbent Congressman Bennie Thompson (D) by fifty-one percent (51%) for re-election compared to challenger Irving Harris (I), who received twenty-two (22%) percent of the vote. Over twenty-seven percent (27%) of Second Congressional District voters were undecided.
President Donald Trump received a thirty-eight percent (38%) approval rating among the voters polled in the district. Just over fifty-one percent (51%) expressed disapproval for the president and roughly ten percent (10%) were undecided.
Third District
For the Congressional polls in the Third District, voters chose Michael Guest (R) by over fifty-six percent (56%). He will face Michael “Ted” Evans (D) showed twenty-six percent (26%) of the vote as the Democratic nominee headed to November’s ballot. There is still seventeen percent (17%) of voters who are undecided.
President Donald Trump received over fifty-four percent (54%) approval rating among the voters polled in the district. Just over thirty-seven percent (37%) expressed disapproval for the president and roughly eight (8%) percent were undecided.
Fourth District
Fourth District voters chose incumbent Congressman Steven Palazzo (R) by fifty-three percent (53%) for re-election compared to challenger Jeramey Anderson (D), who received thirty-six (36%) percent of the vote in the survey. Over nine percent (9%) of Fourth Congressional District voters were undecided.
President Donald Trump received a fifty-three percent (53%) approval rating among the voters polled in the district. Just over thirty-six percent (36%) expressed disapproval for the president and roughly ten percent (10%) were undecided.
This survey was an IVR (interactive voice response) poll conducted on July 30 & 31 in households statewide. There were 525 completed surveys in each district for a total of 2,100 completed surveys. The poll results have been weighted by political party response. The margin of error is +/- 3.5%.
