Wicker Statement on Masterpiece Cakeshop Decision

By: Sarah Ulmer - June 4, 2018

U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., today issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Christian baker who was punished by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission for refusing to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple:

“Today, the Supreme Court made the right call. The First Amendment and equal protection under the law apply to all citizens – including Christians. The court should go further to make sure no American is forced to choose between violating the law or violating his or her religious beliefs.”
