Gov. Phil Bryant has set May 8, 2018, as the special election date for House District 30.
The seat recently became vacant when former Rep. Robert E. Huddleston retired.
The qualifying deadline is March 19. If no candidate receives a majority of votes on May 8, a runoff will be held on May 29. District 30 encompasses parts of Bolivar, Quitman, Sunflower and Tallahatchie counties.
