Considering a tech degree? Community College could be free for you #billoftheday

Today’s bill of the day is HB 405, authored by Rep. Nolan Mettetal, and is moving along quite nicely. It has already been transmitted to the Senate. The bill would offer the Mississippi Career-Tech Scholars Program which would offer scholarship money for tuition to Community and Junior Colleges. The bill would require financial assistance provided to students who in career and technical education certificate and associate of applied science programs in order to meet workforce demands of the state.

House Bill 405

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 55 SECTION

1. Sections 1 through 6 of this act shall be known 56 as the “Mississippi Career-Tech Scholars Program Act.”

SECTION 2. (1) The Mississippi Career-Tech Scholars Program is established to serve as a last dollar scholarship program for eligible students by providing financial assistance to those students who enroll in career and technical education certificate and associate of applied science programs identified through sector analysis to meet the workforce demands of the state.
