U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., issued the following statement after U.S. Rep. Gregg Harper, R-Miss., announced that he would not run for reelection:
“Congressman Harper has been an excellent legislator and great public servant. When he came to the House of Representatives 10 years ago, he hit the ground running and immediately rose into leadership. Gregg is a solid conservative and a result-oriented Congressman. He has represented Mississippi in a way that makes us proud. I understand his decision, but he will leave a void. I am glad to count him among my good friends and wish him all the best.
