Wicker Statement on Trump’s Pick for Homeland Security Secretary
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s selection of Kirstjen Nielsen to be the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS):
“Ms. Nielsen has the right type of experience needed to run this important agency. It is also clear that she has the full confidence of the President and former DHS Secretary John Kelly, who is now the White House chief of staff. I am hopeful that the Senate will begin consideration of her nomination without delay.”
