Palazzo Introduces Legislation to Reauthorize NFIP
Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today released a statement regarding H.R. 3723 , legislation he introduced in the House that would provide a two-year reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program.
“As people are actively recovering from Hurricane Irma and Harvey, it’s imperative that we reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program for a two-year period so we can provide them with the stability they need to recover. While there are a number of reforms that I would like to see made to NFIP to improve the program, now is not the time to overhaul how flood insurance works. Two years will give Congress enough time to ensure that any changes we make to NFIP will avoid unintended consequences and continue to keep flood insurance affordable and available for homeowners.”
