New Gautier mayor wants to focus on increasing city revenue
Incoming Mayor Phil Torjusen says the city of Gautier needs increase revenue to bolster city services.
He tells The Mississippi Press that the Gulf Coast city has struggled since Singing River Mall closed in 2013 and Wal-Mart pulled out of a plan to redevelop the property.
While the mall property is private, Torjusen says the city needs to use an ongoing study it’s commissioned to work with the developer to recruit tenants that fit Gautier’s residents.
