Palazzo Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Washington, DC – Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today voted in favor of the American Healthcare Care Act that will eliminate Obamacare and replace it with accessible patient-centered, free market reforms.

“I made a promise to the people of South Mississippi that I would come to Washington and repeal Obamacare, and today’s vote on the American Health Care Act keeps that promise. We repealed Obamacare and replaced it with a conservative healthcare bill that is good for families, businesses, and individuals.

“I am proud of President Trump and my colleagues for working together to come up with a strong piece of legislation, and I urge the Senate to immediately take up this bill and pass it. We are closer than we have ever been to repealing Obamacare. Let’s get it done.”

The American Health Care Act repeals Obamacare and replaces it with patient-centered, state-driven reforms that will lower costs and empower individuals to make their own healthcare decisions.

Key provisions within the American Health Care Act:

– Eliminates the individual mandate that required everyone to purchase insurance or pay a penalty tax

– Eliminates the employer mandate that required businesses to provide insurance to their employees

– Eliminates the endless taxes and regulations that were imposed through Obamacare

– Halts the Medicaid expansion program

Two amendments were also added to today’s bill. The McArthur Amendment which would give states more flexibility on health coverage options, and the Upton Amendment that helps ensure coverage for individuals with pre-existing conditions.
