By: Magnolia Tribune - October 31, 2016

2 vie for Mississippi Supreme Court District 2 seat

Two candidates will face off Nov. 8 for the District 2, Position 2 seat on the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Justice Dawn Beam, who has held the position since February, is running against Michael T. Shareef in the nonpartisan race.

Beam was appointed to the position by Gov. Phil Bryant to fill the unexpired term of former Justice Randy Pierce, who left the court to become director of the Mississippi Judicial College. That term expires Dec. 31.

Shareef comes to the race without any previous political experience.
